The only limit to the potential is your own creativity.
In a fantasy world, one could fly, cast spells, be an elf pretty much anything. However, anyone else could also be anything they desire, and if what they wish and you wish colide, problems could occur.

Sure, in that fantasy world, you could fight monsters, meet the girl of your dreams and master any craft you wish to, but when you look deeper, that girl of your dreams will be exactly like you have made her, think as you have made her think, and ultimately, is just an extension of ones own mind. The same aplies to mastering a craft, just cause you think that you have, does not mean that you really have. You need to see a real master, and take time to learn, in order to really master a craft.

On the other hand, from a real world side, life is a lot harder. Mainly because there is no room for error. On a fantsy side, one could die, and simply resurect, or say the wrong thing, only to go back in time and change what was said.

The real world is tough, but it has its rules. The key to mastering real life is simply to understand those rules, and know which ones can be bent. By understanding the rules, you realise that everyone is bound by the same rules, and if you understand them better, you cleary have an advantage to life over the ignorant others.

Probably the greatest thing about real life, would be that it is capable of throwing surprises at you. Things you never thought could happen, can happen. Unlike a fantasy world, where there is infinite potential, but is limited by ones own creativity.

The biggest problem with real life is, when you mess up, you must work really hard to get out of it. It can be very depressing and can make a person so angry.

Ultimately, the choice is best found by mixing the two. Live in the real world, but spend time in your own fantasy world once in a while to relax and collect oneself to better face and understand the real world.
